Pricing
All custom submitted projects are subjected to individual quotes. Two Tone Designs has set some examples to give you a general idea of what you can expect to pay for our services. Our minimum charge for even the smallest decal is $4.00. However, because every project is different and may require more detail or editing, prices will vary.
Our professional application fees, like our decals, vary from job to job. Our application prices start at $5.00 per square foot for single layered decals. For multiple layered decals, additional fees will be applied on top of our $5.00 per square foot fee. There is a minimum charge of $5.00 for the second layer. Size and placement of the second layer will determine the additional fees. If you have any questions on our application services, please contact us
here.
We may require that you leave your vehicle with us for 2-4 hours to ensure proper drying and settling of your professionally applied decals. Please note: Temperature, humidity and even sunlight can determine the time it takes to apply decals properly. In the extreme cases we may also require you to leave the application paper on for 24 hours before removing it.

What does "die-cut" mean?
How long do decals last?
Do you have pre-made decals?
Die Cut means to cut with a plotter machine, the plotter has a small razor in the tip that cuts your decal out. The design is cut on a piece of vinyl with and behind the vinyl is liner paper (like a heavy duty wax paper) then by hand we remove the unwanted pieces of your design with a picking tool, which is called "weeding". The decal is then covered with protective application tape (pre-mask). To apply your decal, simply peel off the pre-mask tape along with your decal from the liner paper then apply to your surface , then remove the top application tape, and only your design will remain. In the industry this is called "Kiss-Cut". Visit our installation page to see more.
Our vinyl is fade resistant; all weatherproof, and will not crack, chip or peel. The average life span of our vinyl is 6-8 years with normal use. However, usually much longer indoors. Metallic vinyl has a minimum durability of 1-3 years durability. Decals are permanent until you choose to remove them. Keep in mind, once a decal is removed it cannot be reused.
Two Tone Designs carries over 10,000 pre-cut decals to fit your needs. We carry manufacturer logos, performance logos, retail logos, tribal decals, flame decals, and that is just to name a few. Please download our catalog to view all the decals we carry. If you don't see the decal you are looking for, give us a call and we would be more than happy to custom design one just for you.
Do you offer a quantity discount?
How long do should I wait before washing?
On our pre-cut decals - yes. It takes almost the same amount of time to produce 1 of something as it does 10. The overall time spent on each item is much less when large quantities are ordered so we gladly pass this saving on to the customer. If you are thinking of ordering a very large quantity, email us your details (sizes, colors, item number, etc...) -- we will quickly figure your larger discount.
For washing, we advise you to wait a couple days in the winter. Just one day in the summer (let it get some sun). If you use the 'wet method' for installation, double the waiting period. For waxing, wait 5 days. If you used the wet method or installed during winter time, wait 10 days. Keep in mind some waxes have strong solvents and cleaners that can eat at the edge of the vinyl. If you allow wax buildup on the edge this can become a problem. That being said, be careful and you'll do just fine. Note: while waxing may not hurt the decal, the decal does not need waxing.

step 1:
Clean your destination surface. Use glass cleaner to clean the surface along with lint-free paper towel. If vinyl decals are being applied to painted surfaces, you must make sure the surface is cleaned with wax and grease remover (available at local auto parts stores). Make sure all surfaces are dry and free of any wax or glass cleaning residues.
step 4:
Using a sharp angle, start in a corner and peel away the decals backing (away from the transfer tape that is holding the vinyl image) until you get to the masking-tape-center-line you laid to hold it in place. Keeping the vinyl (on the application-tape) pinned back with your finger, cut away the removed backing along the center-placement-tape line. Be careful not to scratch your surface or cut your vinyl image. Do NOT try and tear the paper, this will create fuzz and dust that may create bumps under the decal.
step 6:
Once one side is laid down, remove the center-tape-line, then remove the other half of the vinyl backing the same way as before, and repeat the process for the other side. Squeegee the entire image a few times, from the center outward, each time with greater pressure, making sure that all of it is good and pressed onto the surface.
step 7:
Once you feel it is pressed on as good as can be, begin peeling the transfer tape off using a sharp angle against itself. If the image comes off the surface (sticking to the transfer tape), simply lay back down, and squeegee as before, then try again - remember, a sharp angle works best when separating vinyl from either the backing or the tape. If the decal does not stick, the surface was not fully cleaned, and may have oils or dust.
step 2:
With your decal still taped up, lay your decal (backing-side down, transfer-tape-side up) and align as you like it. It should be adhesive side down, looking like it will look after applied. Once you get it lined up the way you like it.
step 5:
Using any squeegee like item (a credit card works well), begin to lay your graphic down onto your prepared surface from the masking-tape-center-line outward. DO NOT LAY DOWN ALL AT ONCE! Hold the image at an angle above the destination-surface, and slowly, starting at the center-placement-tape-line, press down the image from the center out using the squeegee. Squeegee from the center-tape-line outward as you lay it down, taking care to not allow air bubbles to form between the vinyl and the surface.
step 3:
Place a strip of masking-tape (vertically) down the center of the image to hold in place, over-lapping the edge onto the destination surface. Make sure the image won't move. Once fixed, pull one side of the decal (the entire decal - transfer tape, and backing) back flat against itself, folding over the masking-tape-center-line that you just placed to hold it down. Do NOT crease it, just bend or fold it.
print instructions
Place the decal (stuck on the transfer tape, sticky side down) onto the destination surface as close to perfect as you can get it. You can slide it around until it is lined up how you want it. Be careful of small lines and details. Once aligned, starting from the image-center and moving outward squeegee out all the water and air bubbles. Start with light pressure, and slowly build with each pass over the decal.
Mist the cleaned surface with clean water, then using a sharp angle - peel the vinyl-backing away from the transfer-tape (that is holding the vinyl image) and mist the sticky side also with clean water. The more water you apply to the destination surface, the more you can slide the graphic around before it starts to stick, but too much water can cause problems with smaller detailed lines in the image staying together, so try and get a nice even coat of tiny water drops on both the decal and the surface.
Let the image stay on the surface with the transfer tape on for as long as it takes to dry. Direct sunlight on hot, dry days will speed this up. We recommend giving it a solid 2 - 4 hours. If you try and remove the tape before the decal is fully adhered you can create air bubbles under the vinyl. Decals applied on cold, humid and rainy days can take up to 24 hours or even longer to fully adhere. Rule of thumb, if you are not sure whether or not it’s dry then doesn’t be in a rush taking off the transfer tape. Be patient, and give it 24 hours just to be sure.
Once dry, begin peeling the transfer tape off using a sharp angle (against itself). This helps to keep your vinyl decal from pulling off the surface (making air bubbles). If the vinyl is not sticking, then it's not dry yet, or the surface was not clean. If the image comes off the surface (still sticking to the application tape), simply lay back down, taking care not to create any air bubbles, and squeegee as before, giving it more time to dry and fully adhere. Wet method applied decals should not take more than 48 hours to fully adhere.
